Now is exactly the time when the little things matter.
When the economic landscape feels uncertain, and we don’t know where we’re going to land, we look for comfort and solid ground.
I consider myself fortunate to have weathered a few recessions and weaker economic times. You can’t help but grow a little stronger and a little wiser walking through the fire.
I listen and watch younger entrepreneurs, and I see how scary it can be when you have no past experience to reflect on—when you’ve never navigated an economic challenge before. Without a reference point, it can feel overwhelming.
This is where I come in.
I’m here to tell you—because I know—that many of the clichés you’ve heard are true:
✅ The cream rises to the top.
✅ What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.
✅ And my personal favorite: Winston Churchill’s Never give up.
I also believe that necessity is the mother of invention.
When we’re pushed to think outside the box, financial limitations don’t have to hold us back—creative thinking always wins.
This is a test for all of us: not just to survive this business landscape but to thrive in it.
It’s the Little Things That Make the Biggest Impact
We have an opportunity to connect with each other like never before.
I mean really connect.
Not just announcing a sale or launching something new—let’s dig deeper than that.
Let’s go back to looking each other in the eyes and doing things with purpose.
The beauty industry gives us an incredible opportunity to change how we feel about ourselves. Let’s choose, because we do have a choice.
Let’s insist on feeling good about ourselves—especially now.
This is exactly when a new lipstick or moisturizer feels like an indulgence and a necessary luxury.
We need these little pick-me-ups of self-care and self-love. ❤️
Beauty products are like comfort food when they come from a place of fullness—not lack.
It’s not about thriving on insecurity. It’s about soothing and comforting. And yes, perhaps a little decadence that we should all feel good about.
A Personal Story
In our lean years, when Rick and I started our business, Friday night was (and still is!) date night.
We couldn’t afford dinner out, so we would go to a local coffee shop, share a cappuccino and an oatmeal raisin cookie, and it felt decadent and delicious.
I look back on those nights with the best memories.
Because the little things?
They’re really the big things in disguise. 🥰
A Lesson from a Customer
Yesterday, I had a conversation with a new customer, and I asked a question I normally wouldn’t:
"Would you mind telling me why you chose our business? What did we do RIGHT?"
She told me it was our customer service—her experience with her brand manager has been consistent, reliable, and unwavering.
That, to me, was like a restaurant owner receiving a Michelin star. ⭐
We don’t need to pay someone to tell us what to do.
We just need to ask: What are we doing right?
Then, do more of it—and do it even better.
It’s the Little Things
It’s the intangible things we offer that make us stand out.
I learned a lot from asking that one simple question.
Let’s never forget: we’re all in this together.
Love always,
Vita
